After sitting in the stand for 2 minutes, Daniel got a shot at a mature doe. Upon following the scarce blood trail and darkness falling, he decided to wait and try again in the morning. He searched another time the next morning and decided the deer was lost. Per his Dad's recommendation to look for a third time, he finally recovered the doe. Again, persistence and the will to never give up pays off!

Early season deer hunt turns into a Fall turkey hunt. Check out the action:

Kentucky's archery season is right around the corner and the bucks are still out. Hoping this ol' boy keeps his summer patterns.

Check out the growth on these bucks from a few weeks ago. We are going to try to keep you posted on these bucks' growth over the summer.

Short video of a couple bucks foraging on soy beans. These bucks are over 400yds away so it was a little difficult to hold steady with the zoom on the camera. Definitely two with potential for the upcoming season. Click to watch video in full screen.

As the Kentucky Spring Turkey Season begins to close, the Heavy Lifters have been fortunate  enough to harvest 9 birds. Take a look below at some of the harvests.

Travis scored on his second year in a row during the 2013 Youth turkey weekend. After missing a nice gobbler the first morning, Travis was able to connect the next day out of the same blind.

With turkey season right around the corner, we are out and scouting for the best setups this Spring. Check out a recent encounter with a few long beards while we were scouting one of the farms. A post has been long over due. To conclude deer season, the Heavy Lifters accounted for 12 deer total.

Now we are in the off season between deer and turkey. This is when the Heavy Lifters begin preparations for the upcoming Spring turkey season as they plan a Tennessee trip to open up before Kentucky. This is also the time of year to have a little fun doing some small game and varmit hunting.
So far 7 crows and 11 rabbits have been taken.

As it is the off-season, expect blog posts to review each month leading up to turkey season.

As we are coming to then end of October, the leaves, as well as, more deer are falling for the Heavy Liftin crew. A few more doe tags were punched before the Heavy Lifters prepare for the rut.
