Well, the Heavy Lifters reached double digits this morning as Dustin tagged out with a nice tom. The bird had an 11 inch beard and 3/4" spurs. That makes 10 long beards fall victim to the Heavy Lifters this Spring. What a great year.

After a long day of hunting, Heavy Lifter Daniel tagged out this evening with a nice tom. The bird sported a 9 1/2" beard and 1" spurs. This makes 9 birds down this season for the Heavy Lifters. With one more week to go, can they make it to double digits?

What a great opening weekend in KY. The Heavy Lifters and Pro Staff resulted in harvesting 5 gobblers this weekend.

Pro staffer Russell Thorn was able to call in this ol' boy Saturday morning which allowed his daughter, Kasey, to take her first turkey. The turkey weighed 20lbs, had a 10 1/2" beard, and 7/8" spurs. Way to go Kasey!

Heavy Lifter, Dustin, along with his Dad, Damon Mauldin, doubled up Saturday morning as they both took nice toms.

Heavy Lifter, Daniel Thorn, got his first bird of the season this morning with this nice tom. The bird practically flew off the roost into Daniel's and Dustin's laps early this morning. The hunt lasted less than 20 minutes. The tom had a   9 1/2" beard and 1 1/8" spurs.

Pro Staffer Damon Mauldin harvested his second state bird this morning, as well, filling his last state tag.

The KY season opener is tomorrow and the Heavy Lifters are chomping at the bit. Three longbeards have already fell to the Heavy Lifters this season (one during the youth hunt and 2 at Ft. Knox). Hopefully, the Heavy Lifters will be putting their foot on more longbeards' heads this weekend. Stay tuned!

Boy the toms were fired up today. We had six toms working in to calls, until two longbeards finally committed and the Heavy Lifters were able to help Travis harvest his first turkey. The tom weighed in at 23 lbs, had a 9 1/2 inch beard, and sported 7/8" spurs. Great job, Travis!

Tough hunting the past two days at Kentucky's Land Between the Lakes. This high-pressured public land kept the toms silent on and off the roost. The Heavy Lifters did manage to call in a hen the opening day and get on a gobbler that afternoon. Unfortunately, the gobbler had other plans and went the other direction. The second morning produced 2 hens off the roost, but still no tom.

Youth season opens Saturday and the Heavy Lifters are excited to be taking a youth hunting. Updates in the morning.
